There's something about Dubai! Its Luxurious!

Its been three weeks that I have been back from our jaunt to Dubai and I have been yearning to write loads about it. 7 days were about fun, leisure, happiness, madness, tiredness, awe, excitement, etc. Its only a fun filled holiday that can make one utter these insanely pleasurable words…. Wat say? Yes! it was a memorable one for us. After spending three weeks at Riyadh, we took a short stint in Dubai before flying back to New Delhi, India. The visa was taken care by Emirates Airline through their on-line mechanism and they made it all hassle-free, definitely winning themselves a thumps up.

King Zayed Road…

I wouldn’t say I am mesmerized the way Europe had done to me last year but Dubai is definitely different. The comparisons of two continents with absolutely distinct geographical placements holds no point at all. Europe is about green, blue and white naturally while Middle East is about golden brown, steel Grey and twinkling lights, quite much man made.

When Dubai won the Global Expo 2020, we were the lucky ones who saw Dubai celebrate the victory extravagantly. We witnessed mind blowing light-works show at Burj Khalifa, similar to the kinds that happens at the New Year. Dubai has a firework fantasia and they are all set to make a new Guinness book record in this league on the New Year Eve.

I would love to say that Dubai is quite like India but with law and order thoroughly in place and with no second thoughts its cleaner, safer, vibrant and flourishing like none. The sky rising architecture, entertaining pleasures of all kinds and cosmopolitan fever is absolutely heart warming. The city has a rich culture, audacious architecture, spectacular skylines, obsession with fashion and style, and flourishing contemporary art scene to boast it all together. It definitely knows how to tantalize the tourists. The eye arresting buildings have stories of their own. Each design beats the other and leaves you wondering what was in the mind of the architect.

Dubai Airport, deserves a mention for sure and Its classy, enriched with state of the art technology. The airport also tells you that you are in one of the Emirates thats obsessed with making world records.  Huge lifts to lug people from one floor to another. When we landed there, ongoing celebrations for the National Day caught my interest. The airport was decked up for the big day that falls on 2nd December. Since we dint have much luggage, Dubai Metro really came highly dependable… The newly built driver-less metro network isn’t complicated at all. The Red line covers one end to another on a straight road and the green line, the newer one caters to other route. Luckily our hotel was close to the station and thus we stepped in the life line of the local public. Except the severe jolts that it gives when it halts and starts again, it is fast, neat and well timed. And dare not you litter around or play with the emergency button, there is a huge fine of 2000 Dhirams..

The red line opens up on street thats called Sheikh Zayed Road and its the main artery of the city. The skyline view on this road is huge, you do not know what to savor and what to leave… its punctured at regular intervals by buildings of different shapes and sizes. So reaching the hotel was quick and hassle free.  For seven days and nights, our haven was Rolla Residences situated in the heart of Bur Dubai. Bur Dubai is vibrant with lots of eateries and hotels. It was where we returned to shower, eat and sleep each day. I loved their breakfast spread for sure.

Dubai, one of the seven emirates of UAE is scaling high with world records! Not just that its boasts of highest building of the world, it has too many like largest fountain, largest mall, hotel, etc. I quite appreciate the vision of the king and the passion of the policy makers who are all set to make the world turn and look around at it. They know the days of fishing and oil reserves are  gone, so tourism is the next big thing.

The Souks, the creeks hold the traditional soul of the country but at the same time modernism has set its foot. The king has futuristic visions, has a passion for luxury and is all set to bring every means of entertainment at one place. Dubai is lots about pomp and show and glamor… No doubt, its expensive and luxurious now and more to be in future..

I loved the malls not because they are huge but have almost all the brands from London and Paris.. and lamps in the malls were my favorite…

If you are in need of help in planning an itinerary, take some cues from mine below while I come back on each of them with pictures and details in my follow up posts.

Day 1:  The Highest One, Burj Khalifa!

Burj Khalifa and its views from the 124th floor, (thats the highest where visitors are taken) are eye arresting. One can walk a part around this floor both inside and outside but all within the glass facade. The sunset at the far away Palms, is  a great view from the top.

Day 2:   Fountain Dance at The Dubai Mall, The Palms Atlantis, Dubai Marina!

Its beautiful and not to be missed at all… Rather I would say it brings joy to heart…and is for free…

The Palm Jumeirah is an artificial archipelago that has most expensive houses in UAE.

Day 3:  Ski Dubai at The Mall of Emirates

We tried chair lifting in this artificial snow arena… and I loved the ski school… the young skiers were fantabulous.

Day 4:  Picnicking on Jumeriah Beach Park

Friends, music and subway sandwiches made our day here… The sunset is awesome here..

Jumeriah Beach Park

Day 5:  In Awe of Thematic Creations of Ibn Battuta Mall

It is ‘The Most Beautiful’ Mall, I have ever seen…the pics will do the story telling.

Day 6 : Sand dune Bashing is exciting at Desert Safari

Its absolutely thrilling… some real good time that one gets to spend in the deserts… the real Dubai is about it.

Desert Safari

Day 7:  Catching up with the Fun and Fervor on the National Day of the country at Dubai Marina

Last day, we caught some air show of the National Day and did lots of shopping…

And I must mention about their weekly magazine Read that I fell in love with.

Read is a weekly magazine that is distributed exclusively to commuters on the Dubai Metro network to pick up the latest happenings in the country.

Happy Blogging!!!
