Serving a fab and colorful taste this Holi!

Hiya Readers,

Colorful Holi is a week away and you can’t be spared of being drenched in colors and water. Holi heralds the beginning of the season of flowers, the beautiful spring. And after the dull winters, it brings in the time to get out of the houses, indulge in fun, feasting and joy. More so its the day to meet and greet people and invite them over the delicacies cooked in the kitchen. I am sure the plans to make it a colorful one would already be running through your minds. For me, its about capturing the taste and style of Colors and Spring!

As a kid, I loved my water pistols and bottles, then as I grew up I gave away the watery play and switched to dry colors mostly the natural abeer. But after marriage, last year we had a memorable play of Holi with hubby, friends, neighbors and family. This year more than just the colors and play-around, I want to do something that stays in our minds for long. Yes! its a surprise for the family. Let me reveal it to you…. I plan to do a Holi Makeover to the kitchen and dining…. 🙂

Festival celebrations in India stand to be incomplete if not accompanied with scrumptious food and drink. For me festivals are about feasting to the core. It is during this time when the colorful, sweet and savory Indian treats make way in the Indian houses. And if you mention Holi, what comes in mind next is the mouthwatering taste, rosy linger and sensuous aroma of Thandai, dahi bhalla, gujiya, malpua, kachoris, coconut sweet and lamb meat, biryani etc.

The festivals are about rejoicing the win of good over the bad. So this time, I wanna celebrate the win by bringing in colors to my dining area and adding the colorful festive touch to the serving style. Also I am a little bored of the silver and steel ware. Also the dull colored serving platters have done their many rounds for seasons and ofcourse the kitchenware needs revamp. Thus, I have picked my choices from Fabfurnish to be a part of their  Fab Holi Makeover Contest.

So here I go with my big plans to bring in the jazzy Kitchenware this Holi

The Gujiya Plate. I will serve the sweet delicacy made of khoya and dryfruits in thie above plate.

The Kullad cups for the thandai lovers and those who cannot live without the tea, will be served in the cups which has yellow, red, green and black on the Holi day.

The colorful bowls in red and black will make my snacks look all the more delightful and inviting.  The assorted crispy snacks out of the hot kadhai will look their best on the white platter.

I plan to keep these microwave bowls handy for the instant heatings needed for the guests. They are in colors and they will accentuate the theme of ‘Holi Hai’.  Not to forget, they will make gorgeous serving bowls for Dahi Bhallas too…

How about the coasters? They will add to the look of the table and they look so pretty unoccupied.

The vibrant colors of the chutney bowls will hook the guests to go for the quick bites.

The serving plates look so delicious and I plan to use them to bring my bowls from the kitchen to the table.

The Malpuas will look both lovely and  tempting on the blue rectangular platter.

The napkin holder in the stark red will add to the warmth and festive fervor.

And for the guests whom I plan to invite for dinner, I have picked something classy in two bold combinations gold and silver.

Last but not the least… the herbal color packet will be emptied in the colorful matkis (pots) as below.

I am sure everyone will be surprised and to make the best of my kitchen ware, I am off to learn to cook some finger licking dishes. Have a stylish Holi.
