10 highlights of my trip to Chiang Mai- "Rose of the North Thailand"

It is always a great feeling to travel to a place where you have never been before. No doubt traveling pulls me out of my comfort zone but it definitely makes me feel more alive. Thus, I love to travel and pick on different experiences as much as possible.

CHIANG MAI is famous for its Art and Culture

I am just back from my trip to Chiang Mai in Thailand and I am writing this post to recollect all the fun that I did there.  Of course SONGKRAN festival was the theme of the FAM trip but I have 9 more highlights to add to it.

Chiang Mai is a beautiful province surrounded by picturesque hill tribe villages,  stunning natural beauty and scenic mountains.  It is equally renowned for being country’s top shopping destination for art and craft. Thailand’s second city is adorable and cute. Unlike Bangkok, it has a relaxed and laid-back feel about itself.  In its peaceful pace of life,  it has plenty of things to offer to the tourists.

Before the turn of the 20th century, the Lanna Kingdom had a powerful political presence in Northern Thailand. I have brought back lovely memories from this principal city in Northern Thailand which still preserves its Lanna culture. From zip-lining adventure to night market shopping to spiritual awakening to watching its elephants make paintings, I have so much to say about this vibrant Asian destination.

This Umbrella making center makes you fall in love with colorful umbrellas.

Thai Silk Village made me learn and see the whole process of making silk from the worm and its cocoon.

300+ steps to this temple that is at the height of 3, 520 feet above sea level.

It is one of the most sacred and famous landmark of the city- Wat Phra That Doi Suthep

The Night Market of Chiang Mai will entice you to indulge in shopping!

The Night Bazaar is a great place to bargain, haggle and shop.

My stay at boutique hotel ‘Balcony’ was cozy and comfortable.

Away from the city buzz, it was quaint and peaceful.

Flying Squirrels at Chiang Mai  helped me to explore the adventurous side of me.

I still can’t believe I did 17 zip lines, skating, cycling and much more in 2 and a half hours.

And I played the Water Festival- Songkran with gusto and festive fervor

The Maesa Elephant Camp where you see the elephants take bath, interact with their Mahouts and make beautiful paintings.

On our 3rd day, on the way to the airport we visited ‘The Orchid and Butterfly Farm.’

It is a must visit for the one who loves to experience and capture nature.

No doubt Chiang Mai is high on Art, culture and Beauty.
