It is no surprise to see Singapore referred to as the hotbed of culinary experiences, thanks to the amazing variety of cuisines. There is a wide and varied range of Thai, Indian, Chinese, Malay and other fusion dishes, that add up to those unlimited options here. It has been five years since my last visit but I am still very fond of Singapore.

Another of Singapore’s culinary treasures is Hainanese chicken rice which is cooked with chicken stock and ginger. The Malay dish, Nasi lemak is another favorite with the locals.

Another must do on your culinary tour in Singapore is to try the food sold by three hawkers. It is just to experience the laid-back culture of the city and eat outdoors. With most hawker centers, you will find tables set up outsiders, and they serve a good mix of Malay, Indian and Chinese food. A few top names include Lau Pa Sat that serves delectable local cuisine, Chomp Chomp Food Centre well famous for its barbecue stingray and Maxwell Food Centre that is the best local shop for chicken rice. Head for East Coast Lagoon Village if looking for barbecued seafood.

There are some dishes that you must try out when you are in Singapore, and some names include
- Laksa at Sungei Road Laksa – Laksa is the ultimate fusion of Chinese and Malay flavors and the best venue to have a bowl of laksa is at Sungei Road Laksa with several hawker food stalls that sell many different types of laksa.
- Bak Kut The – The pork rib soup is another hit, and the comfortingly flavorful soup carries the rich flavor of the pepper and garlic. Outram Park Yahua Rou Gu Cha is one of the most popular restaurants in Singapore where you can enjoy Bak Kut The.
- Hokkien Mee – Another must-try is the fried noodle, Hokkien Mee which is a mixture of egg noodles and white rice noodles, which are then fried with egg. Nam Sing Fried Hokkien Mee is a food hawker legend when it comes to enjoying Hokkien Mee! It is my favorite too.
- Chicken Rice – Chicken Rice remains an all-time favorite, and the plate of boiled chicken with flavorful rice is one of the most popular dishes here. Enjoy the dish at the famous Tian Tian Chicken Rice hawker stall.
- Char Kway Teow– Another of the ultimate local favorites is a dish of flat wide rice noodles, Char Kway Teow, which is served with egg and soy sauce. If you love Char Kway Teow, then Hill Street Char Kway Teow is highly recommended.
Singaporean top desserts
Singaporeans love their sweets and the top desserts of Singapore include Ice Kacang, Nyonya Kueh, Tau Suan, Chendol, and Ice cream sandwich. These sweets can be enjoyed at most food courts, and hawker centers and are indeed a joy to taste especially after hot and spicy treat!
