An Evening at The Grammar Room (TGR) at Khan Market

An Evening at Grammar Room

With countless number of restaurants in Khan Market, it’s no surprise that foodies easily get overwhelmed with options. While I love going back to my favorite eateries for soul satisfaction, I also enjoy checking out the most creative and latest offerings. When TGR aka The Grammar Room sprung a surpise in Khan Market, it was like going back to an oldie in a new avatar. Helmed by AD Singh, and steered by Tanya Bhardwaj, Chief Brand Officer and Co-founder, this buzzing room needs no introduction to the food enthusiasts of the city. The six-year-old brand has earned a loyal following in the city, with its relaxed vibe, elevated gourmet café-style food, and timeless charm. While it spreads it love with cups of artisanal coffee, innovative cocktails, and sumptuous gourmet food all day, it also gives solace to the meet-in couples, tired shoppers or the haggard crowd post work. If you have still not been there, you must bookmark this cosy place for your next meal.

I recently visited the Grammar Room where a gastronomic adventure was awaiting me with nostalgia and cosy comfort. While all three outlets across Delhi-NCR are distinct and have their own character, the Khan Market space comes with quaint characteristics and contemporary appeal. If you expect it to be extra spacious and too roomy, it might disappoint you as this neighborhood runs on space crunch, but its warmth and the homey quotient is really high. This 48-seater place is managed within 1300 square feet of room.

I was drawn to it cuteness, large windows and lots of potted plants. It felt like a room full of energy, interest, and excitement, where I ended up giggling over coffee, cherished bites and conversations. It extended a relaxed vibe where I could also find my cheesy fries and sumptous avocado toasts. From hearty ingredients to comforting tastes, each bite extended love and warmth. I spoiled myself a little bit by starting with the signature TGR Truffle fries. These crispy fries with parsley and fresh garlic were sinful.

What followed next was BR-AVO! The avocado fan in me couldn’t wait to devour the healthy tartine. It was assembled well with roasted pepper, sun dried tomatoes, jalapeno, avocado and toasted sourdough bread. Every bite was delectable and I savoured it slowly. From here we moved on to the small plates and then the large plate.

The Asado jackfruit, pice-da-gallo, guacomole, served on crispy corn tostada- there was sense of fun and delight in every bite. We wanted to indulge in a healthy bowl but also wanted some rice and veggies. The good folks customized the veg bowl of ‘Curry Me Away’ with Asian greens and made it minus the eggs for us. (I love eggs but my friend was a thorough vegetarian)

The uncoventional and tantalizing menu offers lots of choices full of fresh veggies, eggs, sundried tomatoes, pesto, sourdough breads, parmesan cheese, basil, etc. This is not the place with a repetitive menu. It gives you those combinations that you have been missing to dig in. The salads and one-bowl meals are exciting as they sound in their descriptions. For the non-vegetarians too, there is lots to indulge into. If I compare it with other places, I will give it for its refreshing menu. For some it is the place for their perfect breakfast, for some it is an open invitation to be more experimental and take a break from the regular. The place has many awards for “innovation in small plates” and it rightly lives up to it.

We were off desserts and hence we did not go for their signature cookie and milk. But you must. They are also known for their fresh bakes. The serving staff is very polite and helpful. Feel free to reach out to them for the recommendations. I must add, this place also gets more brownies points for its extensive drinks menus. From the selection of teas to vegan drinks, hot coffee, cold brews to smoothies, wine and cocktails, no one goes home disappointed.
