Come November and its time for the fat Indian weddings, lavish parties of Delhi to return. Thankfully we Indians believe in pomp and show and our weddings cane never be one day affairs. What if they were, we women would have still flaunted 4 dresses in one day, watsay. Ha ha… In the marriages even the guys love to compete and look their best. But what would our weddings be minus the glamorous sherwanis, lehenga-cholis, anarkalis, sarees, jodhpuri suits, halter neck blouses etc. Don’t we all love going overboard with make up? Ofcourse we do!More than the wedding day, the other functions too need dresses to match the occasion/theme and each one wants his or her to be special and unique.
Not a day to stand and stare! I have missed the preparations back home. Before Diwali and post Diwali I have been traveling, yes this year has been all about it. When I returned this Sunday, I realized a huge party time awaited me. My friend Meenu’s engagement, a colleagues house warming party and Kitu di’s and Arun bhaiya’s wedding (Mehndi, Sangeet, Wedding and Reception) were just round the corner. (Yes, not one but my two cousins are getting married in consecutive months). My Mom is already done with buying accessories for her sarees and my aunt’s place is loaded with shopping bags. My cousin’s are through with their discussions over colors and dresses. Each one is all set to look drop-dead gorgeous. This Sunday, I almost felt less. Mom reminded me I had loads of dresses and was not supposed to crib. For sometime her words were comforting.
Honestly, new and untouched Anarkalis and lovely drapes bought during my wedding are all intact in my cupboard and it is right time to bring them out. I cheered myself and felt armed with enough dresses not until the sky came falling. When I tried to put them on, a few did not come to my perfect fitting. I had put on weight in these two years and here I was in need of new Anarkalis. Gosh! Chandi Chowk was closed on Sundays and it was already a half Sunday gone, where would I shop, there wasn’t a weekend before the functions began. I cried as I was not fashionably prepared for the family functions and just not in the right health to go shopping in the choked markets.
My Mom has a super memory and in all this commotion of my office work, travels and clothes cry, she said ‘ Quikr pe quickly dekho’, maybe you can make some quick buy.
I had forgotten about Blogadda’s ‘Free Shopping Fiesta’ but not her. I hushed her and said Mom one can buy phones and used stuff there not suits and dresses. Quikr is more for gadget or furniture exchange. Yes, I did say that because I had nursed this misconception for long until I made my first buy.
On Mom’s insistence I quickly fished out my phone and clicked on its application which I had installed a few weeks back. Now was the time to explore the app. To my surprise, Quikr provides for everything from Cars and Bikes, Mobiles and Tablets, Electronics and Appliances, Real Estate, Jobs, Home and Lifestyle, Education and Learning, Services, Pet and Care, Community and Events, Matrimonial and Entertainment.
The categories suggested nothing close to shopping directly but ‘Home and Lifestyle’ came pretty close.
I moved in further where ‘ Clothing-Garments’ awaited me.
Just there, I selected Delhi as my state at the top right corner. I called out to Mom pinning my hopes on the gorgeous pictures in one scroll top to bottom. Quikr looked promising and I shifted my search from mobile phone to laptop. The website worked quick.
Making the best use of SORT and FILTER, I targeted my search in my vicinity. The option to choose localities came to perfect rescue. The range, the style and the option to choose new brought back smile on my face. Not one but I found several options. The pictures were helpful absolutely but I spent around half an hour narrowing down on my choices. Some of them were designers, boutique owners and had their websites too. I scanned through the dresses and this felt much better than walking through the crowded markets. Soon when I was done, I decided to call the shortlisted numbers. To my disappointment the first two calls went unanswered. The next mentioned it was closed on a Sunday.
However, the fourth call was just about my prayers being answered. The guy on the other end answered all my queries. They were even open on Sunday and to my convenience he even said that I could come over to pick the suits in person to be convinced about the color and texture of the suits. The store was closely located 20 minutes from my house. Thankfully it was not located in any of the crowded markets.
The advertisement on QUIKR contained all the relevant information and most helpful was their website: KRITARU FASHIONS
The main shop is located in Bhogal.
When we reached the shop, the selection was easy. It was uncrowded and it took only forty minutes to select four Anarkalis. I chose four different colors and styles and my problem for the upcoming parties was resolved. It was a quick, hassle free shopping and also I got these heavy suit pieces at quite reasonable prices. It was absolute fun. Thanks to Quikr that I found this shop. Firstly, I did not have to go around mall hopping to buy some really costly stuff and now I have a shop where I know I can sort and chose through website and go and pick my stuff in the next hour.
My four suit pieces, what a quick buy I made.
Quikr is real quick seriously!!!
